KENANSVILLE, Fla. — There aren’t many Central Florida road trips where looking out the car window could put you nearly eye-to-eye with the tallest land animal on Earth.

At Wild Florida Adventure Park’s Drive-Thru Safari Park, the reticulated giraffe is one of the stars of a wildlife adventure that takes visitors across 170 acres filled with more than 150 exotic and native animals.

Reticulated giraffes are instantly recognizable by their extraordinary height, long necks and striking coat pattern. Adult males can reach heights approaching 18 feet, giving giraffes access to vegetation other animals simply can’t reach.

Their tongues are remarkable, too. A giraffe’s long, prehensile tongue helps it grasp leaves and vegetation while feeding.

And those beautiful patterns aren’t identical from one giraffe to another. Much like human fingerprints, each giraffe’s coat pattern is unique.

At Wild Florida, visitors don’t have to travel across the Atlantic to experience these towering animals.

The four-mile Drive-Thru Safari allows families to travel through expansive habitats in their own vehicle while spotting giraffes and an assortment of other animals along the way.

And when the drive is over, the adventure doesn’t have to be.

Visitors can explore Wild Florida’s Gator Park, home to more than 200 native and exotic animals, or trade four wheels for an airboat adventure through the Headwaters of the Florida Everglades.
