The Narcoossee Area Chapter of the Osceola County Historical Society held a Community BBQ and Bake Sale Saturday June 23rd to help raise funds for the Historic Narcoossee School House.

Built in 1886, it is the oldest school house in Osceola County. Lisa Liu, President of the Narcoossee Area Chapter, joined by many volunteers on her team, made a positive difference in Osceola County by serving bbq and baked goods as a fundraiser for the Narcoossee Schoolhouse Project.

There are still plenty of opportunities for members, volunteers, and donors ahead as the Chapter works to obtain period furnishings for the historic schoolhouse, install attractive landscaping & informative signage, and complete the steps necessary to be able to open the schoolhouse to the public for tours, school field trips, and other events. The potential for establishing a local area museum in Narcoossee is also under review.

If you would like to make a donation to the historic Narcoossee School House to help preserve our county’s history contact the Osceola County Historical Society 407-396-8644 or by visiting www.OsceolaHistory.org.
