Shortly before midnight Saturday night, St. Cloud Police responded to 1100 Tennessee Avenue after receiving calls about a man threatening to harm himself.  There has been an extensive history of similar calls coming from the St. Cloud residence.

According to St. Cloud Police, when they arrived at the home a man began threatening to harm himself and others.  After ignoring numerous verbal requests by police officers, the man raised his weapon toward the officers.

A St. Cloud Police officer responded by firing his gun and striking the man. Officers immediately rendered first aid to the man who was transported to Osceola Regional Hospital where he is currently in stable condition. No St. Cloud Police officers were injured in the shooting incident.

The 5 year veteran St. Cloud Police officer has been placed on administrative leave per department policy and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is currently investigating the incident.
