Just a day after opening its doors for the first time to patients and visitors, Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital for Women and Babies welcomed the first baby delivered in the facility’s labor and delivery department on Sunday, January 12, 2025.
Riley Mac Larson was born at 5:16pm EST to mom Nicole “Colie” Larson BSN, RN-BC and dad Maclain Larson. Nicole is a team member with Orlando Health serving as the hospital’s regulatory consultant.
Riley weighed in at 10 pounds and 9 ounces. Mom, dad and baby are all doing well.
Riley has a bright future ahead of him. As a gift to Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital, Seminole State College is giving a $5000 scholarship to the first baby born at the facility. Mom, Colie is also a graduate of Seminole State College’s nursing program.
Shawn Molsberger, senior vice president of Orlando Health Northeast Region and president of Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital. also serves as a trustee to Seminole State College.
“Shawn and the Orlando Health team have been exceptional partners and steadfast supporters of Seminole State College, demonstrating a strong commitment to preparing our students for career success,” said John A. Gyllin, Ed.D., vice president, Resource and Economic Development and Foundation executive director, Seminole State College. “To celebrate the momentous occasion of the grand opening of the newest comprehensive acute care facility and our ongoing partnership, the Foundation for Seminole State College will award a $5,000 scholarship to the first baby born at Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital. This scholarship will be available when the newest member of our Raider community is ready to begin their college journey at Seminole State.”
Seminole State College is a preferred education partner of Orlando Health, which allows Orlando Health team members to pursue a degree or certificate at Seminole State with no out-of-pocket costs.
Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital officially opened its doors Saturday, January 11, 2025.
