Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies welcomed the first baby of the New Year at 1:20 a.m. Baby boy Derek, weighing 7 lbs. 9 oz. and measuring 19.25 inches long, is the son of Davina Nguyen and Erik Kim.

In celebration of this special occasion, the Central Florida Diaper Bank is donating a year’s supply of diapers (approximately 3,600) to the family. The organization focuses on advocating for healthy growth, nutrition, and development for children from newborn to age three. By identifying families’ needs and providing essential resources, the organization aims to foster self-sufficiency and offer meaningful support to parents.

“We are honored to welcome the first baby of the year with this special donation,” said Sharon Lyles, Executive Director of the Central Florida Diaper Bank. “These diapers represent more than just meeting a family’s immediate needs—they symbolize hope, care, and a commitment to giving every baby the strong start they deserve.”

This new year gesture highlights the importance of community-driven initiatives and the dedication of local organizations like the Central Florida Diaper Bank to support families in need.
