On Monday morning Osceola County celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting of Cameron Preserve, Osceola County’s new innovative, 100- unit affordable housing complex located at 1650 Yates Road in Kissimmee. County leaders, dignitaries, community members and guests, including a family that has transitioned from living in a hotel to an apartment at Cameron Preserve were in attendance at the community event.

The new affordable housing complex ‘s goal is to create affordable housing for residents in Osceola County who need the security of financially-stable housing. Cameron Preserve showcases a pioneering approach to tackling the affordable housing issue by creating safe and stable homes for those transitioning from hotel living situations with a solution that makes sense for both builders and property owners with a goal of providing permanent housing to people, thus ending their homelessness and serving as a platform from which they can pursue personal goals and improve their quality of life.

The average median rent cost for housing in Osceola County is about $1,400 per month. At Cameron Preserve rent will range from $355 a month for a 1 bedroom to $898 a month for 3-bedroom apartments.

Cameron Preserve features a community building space with computers and printers that can be utilized for resident meetings, festivals, mutual support groups and special programs including employment assistance programs, health and wellness programs and financial management programs. There is also an on-site food pantry and each apartment has a stackable washer and dryer, stove, and refrigerator.

Cameron Preserve is the result of a successful public-private partnership allowing Osceola County to move one step closer to solving the issue of scarce affordable housing. Through hard work and dedication, Cameron Preserve is now open and able to provide an affordable and safe place for families to rebuild for their future.
