Osceola County Fleet Management was named 69th among the top 100 Best Fleets, and places Osceola above the cities of Chicago and Anaheim.

“Our Public Works department is making a habit of being recognized annually and it really is a big deal when you look at those vying for this honor. I commend the fleet team for working hard and being willing to measure themselves against their peers — and to be counted among the best,” said Commission Chairman Brandon Arrington. “Our team constantly works to make sure our equipment is ready for the road. That effort means our team is always prepared to serve the citizens of Osceola County.”

Osceola County Fleet Management provides vehicle and equipment repairs, fleet acquisition and disposal. Fleet also operates and maintains the countywide vehicle refueling system.

The evaluation standards are divided into 12 criteria: Accountability, use of technology and information, collaboration, creativity, celebration, evidence of a high trust culture, performance recognition, competitive pricing, staff development, resources stewardship and “doing it right the first time.”

The 100 Best Fleets in the Americas contest is open to any public fleet in North, Central, or South America. The list was announced Tuesday.
