Throughout the month of February, Osceola County Animal Services is offering free microchipping for pets every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This initiative, available exclusively to Osceola County residents, aims to improve pet safety and reunification in the event that pets go missing.
With no appointment necessary and free microchips offered while supplies last, this program makes it easier than ever for pet owners to ensure their furry companions can be quickly identified and returned home.
Why Microchipping Matters
Microchipping is one of the most effective ways to keep pets safe. Unlike collars and tags, which can be lost or removed, a microchip provides a permanent form of identification that shelters and veterinarians can scan to contact pet owners.
“Microchipping is critical in keeping pets safe,” said an Osceola County Animal Services spokesperson. “It gives owners peace of mind and greatly increases the chances of reuniting with their pets if they become lost.”
A Month of Love for Osceola Pets
This free microchipping initiative coincides with District 3 Commissioner Brandon Arrington’s FURR-EVER Valentine adoption promotion, which encourages residents to adopt pets and give them loving homes. With adoption fees reduced to $14 throughout February, adoptees also receive a complimentary pet carrier or crate to help their new furry friend settle in.
Together, these programs highlight Osceola County’s commitment to animal welfare by supporting both existing pet owners and those looking to welcome a new pet into their family.
