The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office has introduced the Juveniles Unleashing Maximum Potential (J.U.M.P.) program, designed to foster positive relationships between local youth and law enforcement while promoting responsible decision-making. This mentorship initiative serves both juveniles who have been involved in the criminal justice system and those who have not, with the goal of helping them develop positive behaviors and avoid future encounters with the law.

The J.U.M.P. program pairs participating youth with deputies who act as mentors and role models, providing guidance, support, and a caring relationship. By connecting youth with valuable services in the community, the program aims to reduce the stigma of justice system involvement and prevent associations with delinquent peers.

Program Goals

  • Strengthening relationships between youth, the community, and the police.
  • Offering opportunities for youth to cultivate positive habits and behaviors.
  • Preventing youth from entering or re-entering the criminal justice system.

Key Benefits and Outcomes

  • Reduced stigma surrounding justice involvement.
  • Prevention of negative peer associations.
  • Enhanced access to community resources.
  • Strengthened ties between law enforcement and the youth of Osceola County.
