Osceola County, led by District 4 Commissioner Cheryl Grieb, celebrated the opening of the new Kissimmee-St. Cloud Connector Trail on Thursday, marking the latest addition to the County’s ambitious 200-mile Master Trail Network Plan.
The newly completed 1.5-mile trail segment links Kissimmee and St. Cloud, creating a critical recreational and transportation corridor. The federally funded trail begins on the north side of Neptune Road at Partin Triangle Park and extends east along the south side of the C-31 Canal before connecting to the Fortune Lakeshore Trail at Brown Chapel Road.
“I’m delighted to unveil the latest in the County’s efforts to expand our greenways and connected paths, making Osceola more bikeable and navigable for residents and visitors,” said Commissioner Cheryl Grieb, who represents District 4 on the County Commission. “By investing in green spaces like these, the County and our public partners are not only expanding access to the natural beauty that surrounds us, but also promoting healthier lifestyles, strengthening community connectivity, and creating new opportunities for recreation.”
The shared-use path includes features designed to ensure both accessibility and safety: it maintains a minimum width of eight feet, includes pedestrian signals, signage, pavement markings, and a crosswalk. The trail also features an underpass beneath the U.S. 192 bridge with 8-foot vertical clearance and under-deck lighting.
This trail extension builds on the County’s progress from October 2024, when officials completed the nearly 7-mile Fortune Lakeshore Trail, which runs from U.S. 192 to the St. Cloud lakefront through parts of Districts 2 and 4.
Once construction along Neptune Road is completed, the new segment will provide vital links to both the 10-mile Kissimmee Trail loop and the Shingle Creek Regional Trail, opening even more opportunities for outdoor recreation and community access.
As the County continues to grow, projects like these reflect a broader commitment to sustainable development and livable communities.
