PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Just days after earning one of the highest honors in Minor League Baseball by being selected to the 2026 MLB All-Star Futures Game, Osceola County native and Harmony High School graduate Caden Scarborough showcased why he is regarded as one of the Texas Rangers’ top pitching prospects.
Pitching for the American League team at Citizens Bank Park on Sunday, Scarborough worked a scoreless inning against some of the game’s most highly regarded young talent. The 21-year-old right-hander struck out Los Angeles Dodgers prospect Josue De Paula to begin his outing before retiring Alfredo Duno on a deep fly ball to center field. After allowing a two-out single to San Diego Padres prospect Ethan Salas, Scarborough escaped the inning by inducing a fly ball to left field from Luis Peña, preserving his scoreless appearance on one of baseball’s biggest prospect stages.
The performance marked another milestone in what has become an inspiring season for the former Harmony High School standout.
Scarborough entered the Futures Game after posting a 3.90 ERA with a 1.12 WHIP and 31 strikeouts over 27.2 innings for the High-A Hub City Spartanburgers. His season began later than expected after he missed the opening weeks of spring training and the regular season while recovering from offseason surgery to remove a malignant melanoma.
Rather than allowing the setback to define his season, Scarborough returned to the mound and quickly reestablished himself as one of the Rangers’ most promising young arms. His excellent fastball command, poise, and ability to consistently attack the strike zone have continued to impress scouts throughout the organization.
Being selected to the MLB All-Star Futures Game placed Scarborough among the top prospects in professional baseball, an honor reserved for players viewed as potential future Major League stars. His scoreless outing on Sunday only reinforced that reputation.
Just three years removed from graduating from Harmony High School, Scarborough’s journey from Osceola County baseball standout to one of the nation’s premier pitching prospects continues to gain momentum. His appearance in Philadelphia serves as another reminder of the talent emerging from Osceola County and the dedication required to reach baseball’s highest levels.
While his path to the Major Leagues is still unfolding, Sunday’s performance offered another glimpse of what could lie ahead. For Scarborough, the Futures Game was more than just an All-Star appearance—it was another significant step toward achieving the dream of pitching in the Major Leagues.
