An eighth-grade student from Osceola Science Charter School is headed to a prestigious statewide math competition after a strong performance at a recent local qualifier.
Riya Ballani earned third place at a Mathleague.org qualifying event, where dozens of elementary and middle school students competed in fast-paced individual and head-to-head challenges focused on advanced arithmetic skills. Her top-three finish secured her a spot in the Mathleague.org state tournament, which is scheduled to take place in March.
Ballani will represent her school and Osceola County as she competes against top-performing students from across Florida in the STEM-focused academic competition.
