Two men have been arrested in connection to the theft of a Chrysler 300 and a large-scale chop shop operation uncovered by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
On September 9, 2023, deputies responded to Denes Auto Sales on South Orange Blossom Trail after a report that a black 2012 Chrysler 300 had been stolen from the dealership’s lot. Surveillance footage confirmed that two suspects arrived at the location and drove off in the stolen vehicle.
After an extensive investigation, the Chrysler 300 was located in Orange County on October 17, but it had been stripped and dismantled. Detectives from the South Property Crimes Unit identified the suspects as Miguel Antonio Umana Jr. and Jose Luis Diaz and located the two men at their homes. After obtaining a search warrant, authorities discovered the suspects were operating a chop shop.
Numerous stolen vehicles and car parts, originating from counties including Broward, Manatee, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, and Polk, were recovered from the operation.
On November 8, the Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution formally charged both men with:
- Grand Theft Greater Than 100K
- Conspiracy to Commit Grand Theft Greater Than 100K
- Operating a Chop Shop
The suspects were arrested on November 13, 2024, and booked into the Osceola County Jail.
