Amazon’s annual Prime Day, typically held in July, is possibly being moved to August due to the current Coronavirus pandemic.

The 48-hour sale last year was Amazon’s biggest shopping event ever, larger even than Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined according to Amazon, with Prime members buying more than 175 million items during the Prime Day event.

Hundreds of other retailers, like Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and others now join in the summer sale, and consumers tend to put off their purchasing in anticipation of Prime Day, but all will be waiting until at least late summer for the behemoth shopping event if it is indeed delayed by Amazon.

As millions are asked to stay home to slow the spread of the coronavirus, people have been flooding to Amazon’s online stores. Amazon has been stopping the sale of some face masks, antibacterial wipes and other hard-to-find health care products to the general public, so governments and health providers can procure these items first during the coronavirus pandemic.
