It was a battle of the Bulldogs at St. Cloud Friday night with the Melbourne’s Bulldogs visiting the St. Cloud Bulldogs. The game was delayed while the water was draining off the field. Melbourne won the toss and elected to get the ball, so the mudfest began with St. Cloud on defense. It was the high point of the game for St. Cloud after a Melbourne fumble brought St. Cloud’s offense on the field. St. Cloud’s QB Jayden Morehead dumped a quick pass off to #8 Julian Nasco who battled in for 6. Point after attempt was muffed and St. Cloud was up 6-0 in the first quarter.

That would be all the scoring from St. Cloud for the night as Melbourne would take it from there. After a 25 yard Touchdown pass from Melbourne QB Hunter Turner, the Bulldogs of Melbourne were up 7-6 going into halftime. The second was all Melbourne’s with 2 more TDs, one a 35 yard reception by Melbourne’s #5 Jalen Clarke and another by Delvin Alves. Melbourne finished off its scoring with a pick six off of St. Cloud’s Jayden Moorhead. Final score 28-6 Melbourne wins the district game in St. Cloud.

St. Cloud’s Head Coach Bryan Smart said after the game, “We’re young, and missing some people. Melbourne’s a great team, and our kids played hard. Everybody goes through it, and we’re going through it right now. Our kids battled hard and we’re going to get better on Monday.

St. Cloud’s next game will see Osceola at home on Monday September 27 after COVID forced a postponement in August.
