The St. Cloud Police Department has determined that the stabbing that took place outside the St. Cloud Walmart on September 6 was self inflicted.

The St. Cloud Police Department responded to the St. Cloud Walmart after receiving a report of a possible stabbing in the parking lot. When officers arrived at the Walmart they found a man who had been stabbed in the stomach area, claiming that a black or Hispanic male wearing a hat and basketball shorts had stabbed him and then left the scene before the officers arrived.

A local media outlet had initially reported that the man who was stabbed had been shopping for baby formula before being confronted by a man who asked him for money. After refusing to give the man money, the man claimed he was then stabbed, but the story was not true.

After further investigation by St. Cloud Investigators, it was determined that the victims claims were false, and that the man had stabbed himself.

The man was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center in stable condition, and St. Cloud Police are no longer investigation the incident. The victim is receiving the assistance he needs.
