In January the Toastmasters International Club, called St. Cloud Speaks, was formed and was officially chartered by Toastmasters International on June 20.

The City of St. Cloud is inviting the public to join St. Cloud Speaks, which meets every Tuesday, 1-2 p.m., in The Bridge at City Hall (3rd level).

Toastmaster’s mission is to empower individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders.

As Toastermasters says, the world needs leaders. Leaders head families, coach teams, run businesses and mentor others. These leaders must not only accomplish, they must communicate. By regularly giving speeches, gaining feedback, leading teams and guiding others to achieve their goals in a supportive atmosphere, leaders emerge from the Toastmasters program.

“We formed this club to help our employees learn how to develop or improve their speaking and presentation skills,” said Interim City Manager Bill Sturgeon. “Now, we have become a team that supports each member in our journey of becoming confident speakers and successful leaders. We invite all interested parties to join us for an hour of enthusiasm, fun, growth and networking.”

The public is invited to attend a meeting as observers or as participants and to join the club, if so desired.
