Most high school seniors would be spending their first day of Spring Break at the beach with friends or maybe sleeping in, but a group of Seniors from St. Cloud High School were up bright and early and for a very good reason… to make a “Positive Difference in Osceola County.”

Jeff Johnson, Business teacher at SCHS, along with his students have founded ‘By Land or Lake’, a not-for-profit business run solely by the students. They operate out of Chisolm Park on weekends renting out paddle boards, kayaks, beach umbrellas and concessions.

Today these amazing students spent their morning doing something truly remarkable. They guided a group of visually impaired veterans on a two-mile kayak trip from Chisolm Park to the St Cloud Lakefront Marina. In conjunction with support from Team River Runner, a national nonprofit, these veterans were able to have the experience of a lifetime while visiting St. Cloud.

They spent three days with the students from “By Land or Lake” learning all they needed to know for the kayak excursion. Rain Rich, a retired Army Captain, said the training she received from the students was what made the experience so wonderful.

Positively Osceola was there to see them off at Chisolm Park and capture their arrival at the St Cloud Lakefront. The whole team of students and veterans were full of pride and joy for what they had accomplished together.
