As Thanksgiving approaches, The Salvation Army of Osceola County is expanding its support for local families by offering more than holiday meals—this year, it’s also delivering essential health services.

In a new collaboration with Osceola Community Health Services, the organization will provide free health screenings during its annual Thanksgiving basket distribution on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Osceola Community Health Services Medical Mobile Unit will be on-site at 1550 Mill Slough Road in Kissimmee, ensuring residents receiving Thanksgiving baskets can also access preventive care right in their neighborhood.

Guests will have the opportunity to receive:
Vision screenings
Glucose screenings
Primary care information
Additional community health resources

These no-cost services are made possible through the Cinotti Health Care Screening and Services Grant Program, which helps remove financial barriers to routine health care for children, seniors, and families.

“We’re grateful for this partnership and the opportunity to support our community’s health and wellness,” said Andrea Ruiz, Director of The Salvation Army of Osceola County. “As pre-registered families pick up their Thanksgiving baskets, this is a meaningful way to offer not only food for the holiday, but tools for long-term well-being.”

Each year, The Salvation Army’s Thanksgiving basket distribution provides pre-registered Osceola County families with the ingredients needed for a warm and memorable holiday meal. This year’s addition of free health services reflects the organization’s mission to care for the whole person—body, mind, and spirit.

The Salvation Army continues to serve more than 23 million people annually across the United States through programs that fight hunger, support disaster survivors, assist individuals battling addiction, provide shelter, and uplift those facing economic hardship.
