The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has announced a nationwide recall of more than 167,000 pounds of Perdue frozen, ready-to-eat chicken breast nugget and tender products. The recall was issued after it was discovered that the products may be contaminated with metal fragments.

The affected Perdue chicken products were produced on March 23 and bear the establishment number “P-33944,” which can be found on the back of the packaging. These products were distributed to retailers across the country and made available for purchase online. FSIS has shared photos of the impacted product labels to help consumers identify the recalled items.

The issue was brought to light following consumer complaints of finding metal wire embedded in the chicken. While no adverse reactions have been reported so far, FSIS is urging consumers to check their freezers for the recalled products. If found, customers are advised not to consume the chicken and to either dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase.

A news release of the recall is posted on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) website.

The agency emphasizes the importance of this recall and encourages all consumers to take the necessary precautions.
