On Thursday the Executive Vice President and Provost of Valencia College, Dr. Kathleen Plinske, notified the students at Valencia College campuses that the college would be increasing the number of in-person on-site classes during the Summer and upcoming Fall classes.

In an email sent to students, Dr. Plinske said she was looking forward to Valencia offering more on-site classes this summer while continuing to protect the health and safety of their students, employees, and community. After receiving feedback from students, the summer session will have on-site classes in a variety of discipline areas including math, biology, chemistry, physics, and English, in addition to a full schedule of online courses.

Valencia College campuses will offer a substantial increase in the number of classes available with face-to-face meetings, while continuing to offer plenty of online learning options. She said the college will prioritize the students’ and community’s safety and follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines — including by offering smaller class sizes during the Fall term.

Valencia is requesting that the students complete a survey so the college can develop a course schedule that meets the needs and preferences of Valencia’s students. All students who complete the survey will be entered into a drawing to win one of three $25 Valencia College Campus Store electronic gift cards.

The move by Valencia should be positively received by those students more comfortable with in-person learning, while still offering quality online-based education for those who prefer to stay with taking college courses online.
