Creative Inspiration Journey School of St. Cloud, is a tuition-free public charter school for Pre-k through 5th Grade that provides a ground-breaking Reggio-inspired approach to learning. The innovative and stimulating early childhood program at Creative Inspiration Journey School (CIJS) is inspired by Reggio Emilia.

What is Reggio?

This curriculum is based on inter-disciplinary projects (experiential-hands on) learning that is well-balanced and designed to foster each child’s physical, social, cognitive and emotional development. The Reggio curriculum allows room for teacher and student directed activities that utilize critical thinking skills, communication, and collaboration. Children are viewed as resourceful, inventive learners, who are competent and capable of co-constructing knowledge while fostering their natural talents. The Reggio Emilia approach is centered on certain fundamental values about how children learn.

Why is Reggio?

This successful approach to education is being offered at CIJS for a number of reasons: it motives children’s interest and involvement, ensures students work at appropriate developmental levels which decreases frustration and increase the pace of learning. The Reggio curriculum includes meaningful assessments and integrates technology-based curriculum.

Students are inspired to explore their environment, express themselves through movement, drawing, painting, reading, building, sculpting, writing, shadow play, collage, drama, and music.

Lessons are interdisciplinary meaning that several subjects are integrated into single projects. Instead of dividing lessons into “reading, spelling, writing, social studies, and math,” all of these are integrated into everyday projects through hands-on learning activities.

CIJS of St. Cloud is now enrolling for the 2019-2020 school year. For more information on the Creative Inspiration, Journey School visit www.cijsstcloud.com.
