The 155th Silver Spurs Rodeo, the largest professional rodeo east of the Mississippi, kicked off with a thrilling opening night on Friday at the Silver Spurs Arena, delivering nonstop high-energy excitement and a heartfelt tribute that brought the crowd to its feet. Tonight, even more rodeo action is hitting the arena dirt.

Known as the Red, White, and Rodeo edition, this summer’s kickoff rodeo did not disappoint, showcasing the very best in rodeo competition—from heart-pounding Saddle Bronc riding to lightning-fast Barrel Racing and edge-of-your-seat Bull Riding. The packed arena echoed with cheers as fans witnessed top-tier talent under the Friday night lights.

But one of the evening’s most powerful moments came when 103-year-old World War II Veteran Chief Master Sgt. Mel Jenner was escorted into the arena by Chris Robertson of the Museum of Military History. As the crowd realized who was entering the spotlight, a wave of applause and standing ovations swept through the stands in an emotional salute to the veteran’s service and sacrifice.

“Thank you for your incredible service and sacrifice, Mel — we salute you!” echoed throughout the arena.
