The man who had avoided being arrested on domestic violence charges since last weekend by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office was found and arrested Thursday night.

32-year-old Cory Randall Philippe was arrested for striking his father in the head with a blunt object and then fleeing from the home on foot.

Members of the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by law enforcement officers from the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, conducted a multi-day search of an expansive and thick wooded area where Mr. Philippe was last seen and known to frequent. The Sheriff’s Office had been told by witnesses that Philippe might be heavily armed with firearms and explosives.

After authorities found Philippe Thursday night hiding in a trailer located within the search area, the Osceola County SWAT Team surrounded the trailer and asked him to come out, which he refused. The SWAT Team responded by deploying gas into the trailer causing Philippe to exit the trailer, where he was then apprehended. No one was injured during the incident.

Philippe is currently in the Osceola County Jail on charges of Aggravated Assault on a Person 65 Years of Age of Older.
