Shortly after midnight, a 56-year-old Orlando man checked out of Advent Heart in Kissimmee and was attempting to cross the Orange Blossom Trail in front of Advent Health using a walker when he was fatally struck by a 2014 Chrysler van driven by an 80-year-old man, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the man was initially hit by a car heading southbound on OBT and was thrown into the northbound lanes where he was hit by a second car. Troopers said they are currently looking for the driver of that second car that left the scene following the crash.
No description of the vehicle was made available, and anyone with possible information pertaining to the crash is asked to call Crimeline.
The road was shut down for hours as the investigation into the crash took place.
