Celebration High School’s mascot Stormy must have had a bit of magic going on Friday night as the Storm escaped the torrential downpours happening all over the county. The Storm went on to send the St. Cloud High School Bulldogs home with a 46-30 loss.

St. Cloud won the toss and deferred to Celebration who on the first pass saw Quarterback Dylan Davis connect with Junior running back Oniel Senatus on a 60-yard pass, catching the Bulldogs off guard early. The Storm couldn’t capitalize and after turning it over on downs the Bulldogs took it from there from their 38-yard line. It only took one play to get into the end zone as # 1 Aj Negron burst out for 68 TD run followed by a successful point-after attempt, and it felt like it might be a good night for the Bulldogs, but the night was still young.

After a celebration punt was mishandled by the Bulldogs on their own 38-yard line, the Storm flipped the momentum in their direction with a 10-yard run by Oniel Senatus tying the game at 7 with 4 minutes left in the first quarter.

Celebration’s offense continued to move the ball and went ahead 14-7 with a 5-yard quarterback keeper by #2 Dylan Davis, with 10 minutes left in the first half. The Bulldogs reminded the Storm they came to play with a 15 yard run by #33 Brandon Neer. With a minute left in what was a big half for the Storm, Oniel Senatus grabbed another 6 with a 25-yard touchdown run and the half ended 21-16 Storm

Big shout to Celebration High School’s band for performing on the field during week one’s Kickoff Classic. It takes commitment and leadership to prepare that quickly for the start of the season. Well done to all!

The Storm’s offense wasn’t done after Senatus burst through the line on a 35-yard run, and the game started getting away from St. Cloud with the Storm up 28-16 with 11:45 left in the game.

After a quick flip pass to #20 Chip Mccuiston, it was a mad 55-yard dash down the sidelines followed by refs, coaches, and the entire Storm team, and the game was at 34-16 with 7:32 left in the game.

The favor continued for the Storm after capitalizing on a Bulldog fumble and the game was at 40-16 with 6:27 on the clock.

St. Cloud’s Jolaney Quinones sprinted for an 85-yard kickoff return touchdown in the fourth quarter, but the Storm answered back with a 75-yard touchdown run by #7 Flynn Burgess on a big Quarterback keeper.

Morehead grabbed another Bulldog TD on an 8-yard run, but it was a tough night for the Bulldogs and the 2021 Kickoff Classic ended with the Storm beating the Bulldogs on big breaking plays 46-30.

Celebration will host Gateway Saturday for the season opener, and St. Cloud will travel to Osceola, who handily ran over Lake Nona on Friday 24-0.
