Michelle Maikisch, Executive Director of the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX), has been named the 2024 WTS Central Florida Chapter Woman of the Year. This prestigious award recognizes exceptional women who serve as role models and champions for the advancement of women and minorities in the transportation industry.
With a career spanning over two decades, Maikisch has established herself as a trailblazer in the transportation sector. Known for her high-energy and inclusive leadership style, she has been instrumental in shaping CFX into a dynamic agency that serves nearly 80 million residents and visitors across a 125-mile expressway network connecting Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties. As Executive Director of CFX, she oversees the strategic development and daily operations of a network that is vital to Central Florida’s connectivity.
Maikisch’s tenure at CFX has been marked by significant milestones, including spearheading the agency’s first performance-driven strategic business plan and overseeing the execution of $4 billion in critical infrastructure projects through 2028. Her dedication to delivering a world-class, integrated mobility network has not only transformed CFX but also positioned the agency as a cornerstone of Central Florida’s economic and social vitality.

- The Harold W. Barley Regional Partnership Award honors an individual or organization that demonstrates a commitment to the advancement of the regional transportation network. Glenn Pressimone, chief of infrastructure for CFX, accepted the award for the agency.
