OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Osceola County Commissioner Viviana Janer secured a decisive victory in Tuesday’s November 3 General Election, winning a fourth term representing District 2 on the Osceola County Board of County Commissioners.

Janer, a Democrat who has served on the commission since 2014, defeated Republican challenger and former Kissimmee Mayor Olga Gonzalez, receiving 14,149 votes, or approximately 69%, compared with Gonzalez’s 6,444 votes, or 31%, according to unofficial election results.

With all 15 precincts reporting, the victory marks another milestone for Janer, who became the first Hispanic woman elected to the Osceola County Commission in 2014 and has spent the past 12 years advocating for families, seniors, neighborhoods, and economic opportunity.

Following her reelection, Janer expressed appreciation to District 2 voters, saying, “I am grateful to the voters of District 2. I am committed to working for the needs of our community.”

Twelve years of leadership and community investment

Throughout her campaign, Janer emphasized her record of service and commitment to addressing the challenges facing one of Central Florida’s fastest-growing counties.

Among her priorities has been expanding affordable housing opportunities, including county initiatives advancing more than 3,200 affordable housing units for working families and seniors.

Janer has also championed programs designed to help older residents maintain their health and independence, including the county’s Healthy Seniors initiatives, which provide assistance with essential needs such as eyeglasses and dentures.

Education and workforce development have remained central to her efforts, including support for opportunities that allow eligible Osceola County high school graduates to pursue college and technical education without the financial barriers that often prevent students from continuing their education.

Janer has consistently emphasized that improving affordability requires more than housing assistance. It also means expanding access to better-paying jobs, educational opportunities, transportation, and community resources.

Investing in technology, infrastructure, and the future

One of the most recent projects Janer has championed is Osceola County’s new Technology Library, which celebrated its ribbon-cutting on October 23 near Bill Beck Boulevard and Fortune Road.

The innovative facility provides residents with access to emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, robotics, coding, 3D printing, drones, and other educational resources designed to prepare students and families for an increasingly technology-driven economy.

The library reflects Janer’s vision of ensuring Osceola County residents have access to opportunities that can help them compete in tomorrow’s workforce.

Her campaign also highlighted continued investments in roads, drainage, parks, public safety, and neighborhood infrastructure as essential to managing the county’s rapid population growth.

With the message “Be First to What’s Next,” Janer has emphasized the importance of preparing Osceola County for future opportunities while addressing the everyday needs of current residents.

Affordability and responsible growth remain priorities

As she prepares for another term, Janer faces many of the same challenges that shaped her reelection campaign.

Rising housing costs, transportation demands, infrastructure needs, and the financial pressures facing working families and seniors continue to influence discussions about Osceola County’s future.

Janer has said her priorities remain focused on making the county more affordable, strengthening neighborhoods, expanding economic opportunities, and ensuring that growth benefits residents throughout the community.

Her reelection also comes as the County Commission prepares to welcome Mary Downey, who won the District 4 seat being vacated by longtime Commissioner Cheryl Grieb.

Together with the commission’s returning members, Janer will help guide decisions affecting development, infrastructure, housing, public safety, and county services over the next four years.

A decisive vote of confidence from District 2

Janer’s nearly 69% share of the vote represents a commanding reelection victory and continued electoral support for her leadership in District 2.

After 12 years on the commission, she enters her fourth term with an established record of public service and a renewed opportunity to advance the initiatives she has championed.

For Janer, the focus remains on building an Osceola County where families can afford to live, seniors have access to essential services, young people can pursue educational and career opportunities, and neighborhoods receive the investments needed to thrive.

As Osceola County continues to grow, Janer’s fourth term will provide another opportunity to shape the county’s future while continuing her commitment to the residents of District 2.

Election results are unofficial and remain subject to certification by the Osceola County Supervisor of Elections.
