The calendar will feature the artwork of KUA’s 26th annual student calendar art contest. The utility just announced the winners, who sent in designs aimed to promote energy conservation at home with their families.
As popular as it’s ever been, 1,149 entries came in from 26 Osceola County elementary schools. A panel of judges met last week and selected an entry for each of the 12 calendar months to be featured in the KUA 2020 Calendar of Energy Conservation.
The 12 winning students who’s work is featured in the 2020 calendar receive a $150 cash prize.
This year’s grand prize winner, St. Cloud Preparatory Academy fifth-grader Savannah Dieux, will have her artwork featured on the calendar cover and on a KUA fleet vehicle for the year. St. Cloud Prep will also receive $750 in art supplies.
Highlands Elementary fourth-grader Diego Gutiérrez, 2019’s grand prize winner, was a winner again this year, and this is the second time in contest history that siblings have won in the same year with Partin Settlement fifth-grader Anissa Rose (a 2018 winner) and first-grader Ashton Rose.
The rest of the 2020 contest winners are:
Holy Redeemer Catholic School – Sebastian Jaramillo, grade 6; Victoria Sanchez, grade 6; Hannah Su, grade 6; Camila Vargas, grade 3;
Kissimmee Charter Academy – Michael McGuire, Jr., grade 5; Rosalinda Morales, grade 5;
