The 155th Silver Spurs Rodeo—the largest professional rodeo east of the Mississippi—delivered an unforgettable two-night experience filled with high-octane rodeo action, deep-rooted tradition, and heartfelt tributes to American heroes. Held at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, this summer’s “Red, White, and Rodeo” edition was a patriotic celebration like no other.

Friday Night: Action and Honor

Opening night on Friday set the tone with an electric atmosphere, as fans packed the arena to witness top-tier talent compete in Saddle Bronc Riding, Barrel Racing, Bull Riding, Tie-down Roping, Team Roping, Women’s Breakaway Roping, Pee-wee and Senior Quadrille, and more. The arena echoed with cheers as cowboys and cowgirls gave it their all under the Friday night lights.

But the spotlight shifted from the arena dirt to a living legend when 103-year-old World War II Veteran Chief Master Sgt. Mel Jenner was escorted into the arena by Chris Robertson from the Museum of Military History. As the crowd recognized the veteran, a wave of applause, cheers, and standing ovations swept through the stands in a powerful show of gratitude. The emotional moment reminded everyone in attendance of the sacrifices made by America’s Greatest Generation.

Saturday Night: Celebration and Gratitude

Saturday night continued the rodeo excitement with more adrenaline-filled competition and crowd-pleasing performances—but it was the entrance of two more American heroes that stole the show. As 104-year-old WWII Navy Veteran and St. Cloud resident Pat Rudd and 98-year-old WWII U.S. Marine Veteran Lou Boria entered the arena, the sold-out crowd rose to their feet once again, erupting in patriotic pride and heartfelt appreciation.

The Silver Spurs Riding Club’s tradition of honoring service and community stood tall as the crowd applauded the veterans’ legacy, service, and courage. It was a moment that perfectly captured the spirit of the rodeo—where heritage and heroism ride side by side.

Giving Back to the Community

Beyond the action in the arena, the Silver Spurs Riding Club once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to giving back. Spurs Big Boss Randy Booth took center stage Saturday night to present two generous donations—first, a $10,000 check to McCormick Research Institute, which offers equine-assisted therapy and programs for veterans and individuals with special needs. Then, another $10,000 check was presented to Help Now of Osceola, an organization dedicated to raising awareness about domestic violence and providing shelter and support for survivors. These contributions reflect the heart and mission of the Silver Spurs Riding Club—to serve the Osceola County community both inside and outside the arena.
