One week remains in the regular season and Orange Belt Conference Girls Basketball champion Gateway (18-4) will have a chance to get to 20 wins in the regular season as they close out with at Titusville (1/28) and at home to Timber Creek (1/30). The final game will be a good test for the Panthers, as Timber Creek already has 20 wins and is ranked in the top 40 overall in the state. The Panthers broke an 18-game losing streak to St. Cloud last week, beating the Bulldogs, 55-49, to claim their first OBC title (read about it here: https://www.positivelyosceola.com/gateway-panthers-break-st-cloud-bulldogs-streak-capture-obc-girls-basketball-championship/ .
St. Cloud (13-7) will also be jockeying for district seeding position in the final week and will have plenty of opportunity as they close out the season with four games – taking on City of Life Christian Academy (4/28), at Poinciana (1/30) and finishing the week off at home against Holy Trinity (1/31) and Merritt Island Christian Academy (2/1).
“It was tough losing to Gateway in the finals of the OBC Tournament, but we certainly have a lot to play for,” St. Cloud coach Chad Ansbaugh said.“We’ll use the final week to get ready for our district tournament.”
