During a time when communication has never been more important, the School District of Osceola County’s Superintendent, and her communications team, have worked tirelessly to keep the community, students, families, educators, and their administration informed to the best of their ability, every day, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed.
The Sunshine State School Public Relations Association recently named Dr. Debra Pace, superintendent of the Osceola School District, as the 2020 Outstanding Superintendent Communicator. Dr. Pace was recognized by video during the Florida School Boards Association/Florida Association of District School Superintendents’ Annual Joint Conference, held virtually this year.
Dr. Pace is the eighth superintendent to receive the Outstanding Superintendent Communicator honor from SUNSPRA. Under her leadership, the Osceola School District has experienced unprecedented success and has emerged as a beacon for schools, families, and the community to build strong lines of communication to promote a culture of connection, engagement, and advocacy. With their persistent desire to better share the district’s story, Dr. Pace and Public Information Officer Dana Schafer have continued to set a high bar for year-round communication centered around trust, respect, and transparency. This award is even more fitting this year as Dr. Pace has been instrumental in COVID-19 communications planning and implementation, for which the district has been recognized by the state as a model to follow.
Dr. Pace, along with Charlie Draper of Draper Law Office and Positively Osceola, partner together each month to celebrate, honor, and surprise, a featured teacher, and featured professional support staff member. It’s a popular program that began almost six years ago, and one that is centered each month on a very worthy teacher and support staff member. It’s a great way for these integral team members of the school district to be thanked by the school district, the business community, and by those who may never have the opportunity to meet these very special people. Keep an eye out on Positively Osceola’s Facebook page for the Featured Teacher and Featured Professional Support Staff each month!
