Located at 211 E. Dakin Avenue, the LearnHub features engaging spaces for children of all ages, including an infant and toddler area, a hands-on STEAM room, and a colorful interactive wall wrap that celebrates Kissimmee’s natural beauty.
Local leaders and community advocates, including Early Learning Coalition CEO Amanda Kelkenberg, Osceola County Commissioner Cheryl Grieb, State Senator Kristen Arrington, State Representative Erika Booth, and Tiffany Jeffers of the Black Empowerment Council, gathered to mark the occasion.
Speaking at the event, Early Learning Coaltion Amanda Kelkenberg emphasized the importance of community-driven educational initiatives. “The most powerful learning experiences for young children do not always happen in a classroom,” Kelkenberg said. “Early LearnHubs create access for all families to make the most of everyday moments with their children.”
The Early LearnHub aims to bridge educational gaps by bringing enriching experiences to children in areas where families may lack access to traditional attractions due to financial or logistical barriers. By providing a safe, engaging space filled with books, games, and activities, the LearnHub fosters curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning.
The Early LearnHub boasts several key features:
- Infant & Toddler Space: A cozy area for young children to explore and learn in a nurturing environment.
- STEAM Room: A creative, hands-on space dedicated to science, technology, engineering, art, and math activities.
- Interactive Wall Wrap: A custom-designed educational mural that blends fun learning activities with the vibrant landscape of Kissimmee.
The initiative, which began earlier this year, targets underserved zip codes in Osceola County and places installations in community spaces where families frequently visit, such as libraries and local businesses. The Early Learning Coalition hopes to expand the program by partnering with additional businesses to bring similar installations to other locations.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony not only celebrated the opening of the LearnHub but also highlighted the coalition’s broader mission to improve early childhood education across Osceola County. Residents and organizations are encouraged to support the initiative by visiting the LearnHub or becoming partners in the project.
