The Florida High School Athletic Association has voted to postpone the start of falls sports until at least August 24.

The move is a one-eighty of the previous decision they made on Monday night, when the board voted 10-5 in favor of maintaining the state’s July 27 start for high school fall sports. However, many schools had already decided to start their fall seasons later, including Osceola County – which released it’s hopeful start to the fall sports season on Wednesday. That, of course, has now changed. Cheer, Golf, Swim/Dive and XC will now start August 24th, and when will football really start? Not sure is a good way to put it.

After taking another look at the recommendations of the Sports Medicine Advisory Committee, the FHSAA board voted 11-4 to delay the start of the fall sports season and to continue to look at the fall calendar.

The board will come together again on August 17th to make a decision about whether they will move forward with the new startup date of August 24.
