It’s warm outside today. The best way to beat the heat is a nice, cool drink.

What a day for it — today is National Beverage Day!

National Beverage Day on May 6th encourages us to sit back, relax, and enjoy our favorite beverages — which come in many forms. And whether you prefer a hot beverage or a cold one, the choice is yours. Serve up a caffeinated drink poured over over ice. Make it carbonated or mix it up as a cocktail (or mocktail as the case may be). Beverages may be freshly squeezed, frozen, blended, or creamy. They can even be sweet, sour, bitter, smooth, or dry.

We drink them to cool off and to warm up. We also drink them to chill out and serve them to add sparkle to a celebration. In fact, every month on the National Day Calendar includes a beverage celebration. Although, some months celebrate more than others. We just celebrated lemonade and America’s favorite beverage, orange juice, and will celebrate several more in May, too!

Here’s a way to observe #NationalBeverageDay: by singing  a “beverage” inspired song while enjoying your tasty beverage!  Here’s a few ideas:

“Margaritaville” by Jimmy Buffett (the default go-to, right?)
“Beer for My Horses” by Toby Keith and Willie Nelson
“Red Red Wine” by UB40
“One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer” by by George Thorogood and the Destroyers
“I Drink Alone” by George Thorogood and the Destroyers
“Sangria” by Blake Shelton
“Champagne High” by Sister Hazel
“Gin and Juice” by Snoop Dogg
“Warm Beer and Cold Women” by Tom Waits

(doesn’t anybody write about Kool-Aid or Lemonade?)

“Lemonade” by Gucci Mane (there were go)
“Diet Mountain Dew” by Lana Del Rey
“Doctor Pepper” by Diplo
“Orange Crush” by R.E.M.

So raise an icy glass (or coffee mug) and enjoy National Beverage Day!
