A revitalized Marydia Neighborhood Park has opened to the public.

The park located at 2942 Tampa Avenue in Kissimmee has a footprint of just over a half-acre but the recent work packs a lot into a relatively small space.

As part of an approximate $208,000 renovation using CDBG funds, new features and improvements include:

      • Resurfaced basketball court with new goals and nets
      • Updates to the pavilion
      • Brand new restrooms
      • A new tot lot playground with shade structure
      • A new shade structure to the existing playground
      • A new automatic gate

“The improvements to the park enhance its usability and make it a much more attractive destination for families in the area,” said Osceola County Commissioner Cheryl Grieb, whose district includes Marydia. “I’m very pleased with the upgrades and additions to the park and I believe they will serve the residents of Marydia for many years to come.”

Marydia is located south of Osceola Parkway between Orange Blossom Trail and Michigan Avenue – and is made up of about 500 homes.

In addition to the park, about eight years ago the County transformed a nearby 4,715-square foot building once used as a fire station at 707 Sawdust Trail into a community center with space for vocational, occupational, and educational programs.
