The day kicked off with the “The Star-Spangled Banner” sung by the talented St. Cloud Vocal Ensemble, under the direction of Tammy Combs, setting an uplifting tone. With the flag waving gently in the breeze, Dr. Mark Shanoff, the Superintendent of the School District of Osceola County, who ran in the 5K with his daughter. opened the event echoing the theme of unity and wellness.
The event’s structure was planned to cater to all ages and fitness levels, beginning with a youth run—a spirited single lap around Austin Tindall’s football field. This warm-up act provided a thrilling start for the kids, filled with laughter and cheers from supportive family members. The main 5K walk/run followed, inviting all participants to challenge themselves on a scenic 3.1-mile course that wound through the beautiful environs of the sports complex.
Beyond the physical activity, the event was a celebration of health and wellness, featuring health-based vendors and exhibits. These provided valuable information and resources, helping attendees to learn more about maintaining a healthy lifestyle. To satisfy the appetites of runners and walkers alike, over 20 food trucks were on hand, offering a variety of delicious and nutritious options.
The “Keeping PACE with Wellness 5K & Kids Fun Run/Walk” was more than just a race; it was a day of community, fun, and promoting wellness. The Austin Tindall Sports Complex proved to be the perfect setting for such an event, with its well-maintained facilities and picturesque surroundings enhancing the day’s experience.
