KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Osceola County is inviting residents ages 55 and older to embrace healthier, more active lifestyles through its year-round Healthy Senior Initiatives program, with Osceola County Commissioner Viviana Janer, District 2, hosting this Tuesday’s free Sit & Be Fit class as part of the county’s ongoing commitment to senior health, wellness, and active living.
The Healthy Senior Initiatives program provides free, year-round opportunities for Osceola County seniors to stay physically active, socially connected, and engaged through a variety of recreational and wellness activities held at the Robert Guevara Community Center, located at 501 Florida Parkway in Kissimmee.
Throughout the year, seniors can participate in a variety of activities, including Sit & Be Fit chair exercise classes, Bingo, Senior Painting, and Zumba, all designed to promote physical fitness, creativity, social interaction, and overall well-being.
This week’s featured activity is Sit & Be Fit, which will take place on Tuesday, July 28, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The low-impact, seated fitness class is designed to improve strength, flexibility, balance, and mobility while accommodating participants of all fitness levels.
In addition to Sit & Be Fit, seniors can enjoy Bingo, offering a fun and welcoming environment for fellowship and friendly competition, as well as Senior Painting, which encourages creativity and self-expression, and Zumba, providing an upbeat, music-filled workout that promotes cardiovascular health and movement.
County officials say maintaining an active lifestyle while remaining socially connected can improve overall health, elevate mood, and help older adults maintain their independence. Through the Healthy Senior Initiatives program, Osceola County continues to provide meaningful opportunities for seniors to enhance both their physical and emotional well-being.
All Healthy Senior Initiatives activities are free for Osceola County residents ages 55 and older, and are offered throughout the year.
