The City of Kissimmee is making headlines as a driving force in Central Florida’s economic growth, powered by rapid development, forward-thinking investments, and a business-first mindset. Through its “Ready, Connected & Open for Business” strategy, the city is not just keeping up—it’s leading the way for Osceola County’s future.

New Chapter at Kissimmee Gateway Airport

A major milestone took flight Monday as the City of Kissimmee broke ground on a Hyatt Studios Hotel at the Kissimmee Gateway Airport. This development will support the growing number of visiting flight students and travelers, providing much-needed accommodations while contributing to the city’s vision for a vibrant, economically diverse airport district. The hotel aligns with broader efforts to create new economic opportunities and elevate the airport’s role as a regional hub for aviation-related business.

Downtown Transformations Underway

Kissimmee’s momentum continues downtown with two major redevelopment projects now in motion:

  • New Convention Center & Hotel: Azure Hotel Group will redevelop the city-owned Civic Center site into a $150 million destination featuring a $35 million convention center and a 200-room hotel with 12,500 square feet of meeting space.

  • Toho Square Mixed-Use District: Skyview Companies will transform the Pleasant Street garage into a lakefront hub with a 120-room boutique hotel, condominiums, retail, and public trail access. Construction is anticipated to be complete by late 2026.

These developments are designed to energize Downtown Kissimmee, attract tourism, and support local businesses.

Infrastructure and Streetscape Enhancements

Supporting these projects is the $16.3 million Connect Kissimmee Complete Streets Improvement Project, set to begin in summer 2026. The plan includes a new roundabout, lane reductions on Broadway, and wider sidewalks to improve walkability and access for businesses. City staff are working closely with downtown stakeholders to limit construction disruptions.

Boosting Business: Operation Business Boost 2.0

In a continued effort to support small businesses, the City Commission has approved a $1 million expansion of its existing business support initiative, now called Operation Business Boost 2.0. The program includes:

  • Direct grants to local businesses

  • Technical assistance and career training

  • A dedicated marketing campaign to spotlight Downtown Kissimmee

Funded through the American Rescue Plan, the program is delivered in partnership with the UCF Business Incubator, CareerSource Central Florida, and the City’s Economic Development Division.

A Business-Ready Ecosystem

Kissimmee’s Economic Development Division continues to lead outreach and support for startups, developers, and established businesses. Streamlined permitting processes, site development incentives, and proactive engagement have created a welcoming environment for economic expansion.

A City Taking Off

From the Gateway Airport district to the heart of downtown, Kissimmee is clearly attracting attention—and investment. Whether it’s a new hotel breaking ground, a convention center on the horizon, or new business grants supporting local entrepreneurs, the message is clear: Kissimmee is ready, connected, and open for business.
