The Kissimmee 5K has become a Valentine’s week tradition in downtown Kissimmee, so it’s all about hearts — and your heart.

This year the 12th annual event is on Feb. 8 at 7:30 a.m., winding through downtown streets and along the newly-renovated lakefront. Prizes will be awarded to the top finisher in each age range by decade. But, runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome; the event which promotes heart health and a portion of the proceeds benefiting the American Heart Association.

And to continue the Valentine’s Day theme, the “Couples Race” returns — register as a two-person team and your times will be added. There will be awards for the top couples, so sign up with your Valentine.

Strollers are welcome, so bring the entire family to a wonderfully positive event. Come dressed in your favorite Valentine attire and includes separate costume contests for Cutest Cupid, Prettiest Pair and Care Club for large groups.

The first 300 racers to register online will receive a t-shirt. Tickets are $25 per person through Friday, and students 17 and under can run for $15. In addition, runners can honor a survivor or recognize a family member who has suffered from a heart-related incident by buying a $2 sticker. Vendor’s booths will be set up at Kissimmee Lakefront Park before and after the race.

The Kissimmee 5K is the first of three legs of the “Try 2 Tri”, along with the March for Meals (March 14) and Transition House Alcohol Awareness Month Family Fun Run (April 4)

So come show your heart and celebrate Valentine’s Day with hundreds of your friends from the community and participate in the Kissimmee 5K on Feb. 8.
