A 23-year-old man from Tennessee was tragically struck and killed early Monday morning on Interstate 4 in Osceola County after the vehicle he was riding in crashed on an exit ramp near U.S. 192, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on I-4 westbound near the Celebration area. Troopers say the driver, a 23-year-old man from Kissimmee, was behind the wheel of a 2024 Kia Forte when he lost control of the vehicle. The car reportedly became airborne, struck a tree and a barrier wall, and overturned on the exit ramp to U.S. 192.
After the crash, both the driver and the Tennessee passenger exited the vehicle. The driver walked to a nearby hotel to get help from law enforcement and was later transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
While the driver sought help, the Tennessee man attempted to cross I-4. According to troopers, he was walking across the eastbound lanes toward the westbound side of the interstate when he was struck by a 2024 Honda Odyssey. Moments later, he was hit by another vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The westbound lanes of I-4 were closed temporarily as troopers investigated the incident, but the roadway has since reopened.
The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the timeline and details surrounding the crash. Anyone with information is urged to contact FHP at 407-737-2213 or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
