Early Saturday morning around 1:00 a.m., deputies with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office were called about an abandoned vehicle  located near the intersection of Poinciana Boulevard and Reeves Road in Poinciana. When the deputies arrived on the scene they found a black 2016 Dodge Ram parked on the shoulder of Poinciana Boulevard (facing southbound). with the keys still in the ignition.

One of the deputies observed a white man hiding in the wooded area on the northbound side of Poinciana Boulevard. The deputy called out to the man, who was later identified as 41-year-old Zachary Aaron Dollar. Dollar hid behind a concrete telephone pole and then suddenly ran out of the wooded area in an aggressive manner towards the deputy.

The deputy told Dollar to stop numerous times, but he continued to run at the deputy, causing the deputy to shoot Dollar one time in his abdomen. Dollar cooperated with deputies who then were able to rendered medical attention.

Dollar was transported to a local hospital for further care, and at this time his injuries are not life-threatening. An opened folding knife was discovered near where the deputy made contact with Dollar. The Dodge Ram is registered to Dollar and this investigation is ongoing.
