The Mega Millions® jackpot has once again reached astonishing heights — soaring to an estimated $714 million ($334.1 million cash) ahead of the next drawing on Tuesday, October 28. This marks only the ninth time in the game’s history that the jackpot has surpassed $700 million.

No ticket matched all six numbers drawn Friday night — 11, 18, 31, 51, 56, and the gold Mega Ball 24 — allowing the jackpot to continue its rapid climb. The last time the top prize was claimed was on June 27, when a winning ticket in Virginia scored $348 million.

If someone hits the jackpot Tuesday, it will become the second-largest Mega Millions prize ever won in the month of October. The only larger October win came almost exactly seven years ago, when a South Carolina player claimed $1.537 billion on October 23, 2018 — the second-biggest Mega Millions prize in history.

Millions in Prizes Already Awarded Nationwide

While no one claimed the top prize on October 24, the drawing still produced 482,430 winning tickets across all prize tiers, totaling more than $11.7 million in winnings nationwide. A ticket sold in Connecticut matched all five white balls to earn a $2 million prize thanks to the 2X multiplier.

Twelve other tickets hit the game’s third-tier prize, with winnings ranging from $20,000 to $50,000 depending on the multiplier and location.

In total, the current jackpot run has generated more than 10 million winning tickets worth over $240.9 million, including 17 second-tier prizes and 230 third-tier prizes across 38 states.

Florida’s Lottery Legacy

Florida continues to be a major part of Mega Millions history. In August 2023, a Florida ticket holder captured the largest Mega Millions jackpot ever — $1.602 billion. That record-breaking win remains unmatched to this day.

Since then, the game has seen billion-dollar winners in Maine, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, and California, with each record-setting jackpot fueling the excitement across the country.

How to Play

Mega Millions tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets cost $5 each and include a random multiplier that can boost non-jackpot winnings up to 10X. Drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 p.m. Eastern Time in Atlanta, Georgia.
