Deputies in Osceola County are investigating the death of a child, and the hospitalization of another and a woman, on Sunday.

Osceola County deputies responding to a report of a suspicious incident in the Poinciana area early Sunday found an unconscious woman and two children, one of whom later died, according to a news release.

Osceola deputies were alerted to a BOLO (be on the lookout) by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office for a woman suspected of aggravated battery. The woman’s phone led Osceola deputies to an area of a park in Poinciana, near the Poinciana Pentecostal Church of God. The deputies found the woman unconscious, along with two children in the area of 4912 Pleasant Hill Rd., all three were transported to a hospital. Sadly, one of the children was pronounced dead later at the hospital, deputies said.

The news release update stated that deputies believe the woman may have ingested some type of chemical, but did not clarify whether the woman was the mother of the children, or the present condition of the second child or the mother.

Officials said the incident is considered isolated and poses no threat or danger to the public. The investigation is ongoing.
