Responding to an ever-changing technology ecosystem and the need to ensure patients have a convenient and simple way to stay connected to their medical records and engage with physicians, Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital has debuted the new Orlando Health MyChart patient portal. Launched on June 19, the free portal gives patients round-the-clock access to all their healthcare information using an App.

Through using the MyChart portal, patients can easily send or receive a secure message from their doctor, manage appointments, view test results, request prescription refills, and pay bills from their computer, tablet or smartphone. The new portal provides a more personal experience for Orlando Health St. Cloud patients or an approved loved one—who can help manage the patient’s care as needed.

According to Orlando Health Chief Information Officer, Novlet Mattis, the MyChart feature was part of the institution’s efforts to streamline health data and care delivery for patients and clinicians across the healthcare system. The transformation began earlier this year with the implementation of Epic, one of the most widely used and comprehensive health records (CHR) system.

“There was an increasing need for efficiency and simplicity in our operations,” Ms. Mattis said. “Our new CHR system, which includes the MyChart patient portal feature, will allow such and facilitate the information sharing that empowers our clinicians and patients.”

At Orlando Health St. Cloud, patients who visit with a provider will receive an after-visit summary that contains information regarding their visit. Included in the summary is a MyChart activation code that allows the patient to create an account with their own username and password on the Orlando Health MyChart website.

Additionally, for those patients who would like to sign up to use MyChart, but do not have an after-visit summary from an Orlando Health St. Cloud physician, they can go to www.orlandohealth.com/mychart and click ‘sign up now’. The patient will be taken to another signup page where they will see a prompt that says, ‘no activation code?’ and they can click ‘sign up online’.

“We are very excited to have this feature available for patients at Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital,” said Ohme Entin, president of Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital. “I encourage all of our patients, who are able to do so, to utilize the MyChart patient portal as it gives patients the information needed to better manage their healthcare, which leads to improved outcomes. This is just one way we are providing top care to our patients in St. Cloud and the wider Osceola County.”

The Epic CHR system with the MyChart patient portal is one of the many technology advancements to be implemented at Orlando Health St. Cloud since the acquisition by Orlando Health in July 2020. In addition to the website, patients can also download the MyChart App from either the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
