As the 4th of July holiday weekend quickly approaches, Orlando International Airport (MCO) reminds travelers that they will not be alone. Near or slightly above pre-pandemic passenger levels are expected at Florida’s busiest airport.
More and more people are feeling comfortable to travel, which means along with wearing masks, travelers need to also return to pre-pandemic flying behavior including:
- Arriving early to the airport, 2 hours for domestic flights and 3 hours for international
- Preparing for lines in the terminal at ticket counters, security checkpoints, and some concessions
- Anticipating possible roadway congestion from multiple construction projects on airport property
- Expecting to spend a little more time parking as garages start to fill
An additional tip for travelers this 4th of July is to contact their airlines in advance and check on the status of their flights before arriving at the airport to make sure their flights are still scheduled as planned. The holiday travel time frame is from June 25th until July 7th. For the 13-day travel period, MCO is expecting more than 1.5 million travelers or three times as many as last year.
