The state of Florida pushed past 20,000 COVID-19 cases Monday morning as the Florida Department of Health reported 20,601, with 470 fatalities, eighth and 11th in the nation in those categories.

Osceola County showed 10 new cases from overnight, moving its number to 333. Hospitalizations (96) and deaths (5) locally have remained unchanged since before the weekend. It remains to be seen how the numbers are affected by the county’s “Cover your Face” mandate which went into effect today; the scene at two area grocery store parking lots showed 100 percent compliance of those entering and exiting the stores.

Stay tuned for the DOH’s 6 p.m. case update this evening.
