An Osceola County Code Enforcement Officer is facing felony charges after being caught on surveillance video allegedly stealing a package from a St. Cloud property while on duty.
The incident unfolded at a home on Maple Tree Lane, where deputies responded on Wednesday, May 7, following a report of a stolen delivery. The homeowner told authorities that a $600 cell phone had been dropped off earlier that day but later disappeared. Security footage from the property appeared to show someone in a county-issued uniform taking the package.
Investigators with the Sheriff’s East Property Crimes Unit reviewed the footage and identified the suspect as Vanessa Ramon, a uniformed Code Enforcement Officer. The video, recorded on April 16, shows Ramon arriving in a white county pickup truck, walking up to a camper on the property, picking up the package left by the door, and tossing it into the bed of her truck before leaving.
Sheriff’s officials worked with Osceola County Code Enforcement to confirm Ramon’s identity and determined that her actions were not related to any official duties.
Ramon was arrested on Wednesday and booked into the Osceola County Jail. She faces a charge of grand theft, a third-degree felony under Florida law.
Officials have not disclosed whether Ramon is still employed with the county, and no additional details have been released as the investigation continues.
