“On behalf of Osceola REALTORS, we extend our sincere appreciation to the Osceola County Board of County Commissioners for recognizing April 2025 as National Fair Housing Month. As REALTORS, we are deeply committed to upholding the principles of fair housing by promoting equality, inclusion, and access for all. Fair Housing Month serves as a vital reminder of the role we each play in creating stronger, more inclusive communities,” stated Renee Clark, President of the Board of Directors for Osceola REALTORS.
The Fair Housing Act, signed into law on April 11, 1968, marked a pivotal moment in U.S. history, aiming to eliminate racial segregation and end housing discrimination. The legislation prohibits discrimination in housing based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation or gender identity and expression, national origin, familial status, or disability. It also mandates that recipients of federal funding take active steps to further fair housing in their communities.
Each April, REALTORS® nationwide commemorate this landmark legislation through educational initiatives, public awareness campaigns, and community engagement efforts that highlight the importance of fair housing.
