Shingle Creek in Osceola County will remain closed to water traffic from the mouth of the creek to John Young Parkway due to an ongoing project to remove a shoal.

Work on the shoal removal began in October to improve boating access to the area and habitat for aquatic species.

Boaters accessing the areas around the Shingle Creek Shoal removal and the Cypress Lake Shoal removal are asked to proceed slowly. The contractors will ensure proper markers and lighting of both work sites. The Shingle Creek Shoal project is expected to wrap up in April. The S-61 lock at the south end of Lake Toho and C-35 canal to Cypress Lake will remain open through February 6th which will allow boaters access to the lake for a Bass tournament.
